About CT’s Top Choices
CT’s Top Choices is an independent directory and guide for Connecticut. It exists because finding a good local plumber, roofer, groomer or garage in this state is unreasonably hard: search results are dominated by national lead brokers with town-shaped names, and the directories that do exist are padded with businesses that closed years ago or never existed at all.
Our one firm rule
We do not invent listings. Not to make a town page look busier, not to fill a category, not as “examples.” If a page here is empty, it is empty because nobody has submitted a business for it yet. That is less impressive on day one and far more useful on day two hundred.
How a listing gets here
- Someone — an owner, a customer, a neighbor — submits a business through our form.
- It goes into a private review queue. Nothing publishes automatically and nothing is visible to the public while it waits.
- A person checks that the business has a genuine Connecticut presence, working contact details and a plausible description, and that it is not a lead-generation front.
- Approved listings appear on their town, county and category pages.
- Owners can claim their page to correct details, and we verify claims before granting them.
What we are not
We are not a review platform, a lead broker, or a certification body. Being listed here is not an endorsement of workmanship, and we do not sell placement — no listing outranks another because it paid. The guides
Alongside the directory we publish long-form, Connecticut-specific guides — hiring contractors, seasonal maintenance, understanding pricing, preparing for winter, and recognizing the scams that circulate here every spring and after every storm. They are written for homeowners, not for search engines.
Corrections
If something here is wrong — a closed business, a bad phone number, a listing that shouldn’t be here — tell us and we will fix it. Accuracy is the entire product.
